The baltic adventure, in many parts....

A week by the sea leaves lots to talk about. We went up to the Baltic coast right on the boarder with Poland.... there is FAR too much for one post... so to start with what my husband calls my 'Amber Parade'...

I found amber. Once I got my eye in i was easy. Still hoping to find a honking big piece but slowly slowly.

I even got some sketching in. Oh, that felt so good. I felt alive again.

Some of the shells I started to hoarde... but I had to kick some outside as they began to smell (the ones with things still in them...)

With a house full of babysitters I snuck out with a beer. I had a whole beach to myself and I was alone the first time in a long time. It was rather nice. I even walked into Poland.

Sea trip!!

Getting excited... there is a trip planned to the sea.

Shells... stones.... sticks.... maybe, just maybe sand between my toes? oh, I do love the sea.

Boo on one side I need to finish my quilt but on the other- pah, sea first!

And perhaps since oma and opa AND auntie and uncle are coming (it's going to be a true family get away.. could be worryingly stressfull) maybe I could get some drawing done? Oh, it has been a while.

This is recent sketchbook work from the holiday.

I tried some abstract painting on one of those many flat stones that were kicking about. Not sure I like it.

I used my watercolours on some white fabric and sewed some of the image to make it more tactile. Needs some work, not finished.

Chicken gods, chicken gods. Trying out plating, crocheting and threading. Found fishing rope on the beach. Surprisingly hard to work with but not giving up.

Ahhh, thats where I hid my shells. Also another drawing project... inspiring shapes, patterns and colours.

I saw some daffodils for sale in the flower shop in the underground- I didn't buy any because they were so tightly closed that I don't actually beleive they will open. Still getting excited- I love daffodils! When I was studying in Aberdeen the city had planted daffodils in all available green banks so that when spring came all of it was a small sea of yellow.

I have been digging about my illustrations... I wonder if there is anyone interested in them?

I love my snails... they came about when I worked in a kindergarten with almost no books. It was so fraustrating and so sad I made my own and the snails were the outcome. I can always make stories up with these guys.

This was an image I felt and dreamt about too... I could see all the underwater creatures and thier feelings. I wanted to explore this in fabric somehow- a quilt maybe. I wanted the windows- its make it less clear, more secretive somehow. Its definately a work in progress.

These make me laugh- I drew them when I had a thing for sea horses- I don't know why but I could really visualise them so clearly..... swiming fast, being dozey and playing around. They are some images I can always play with some more.

This was a strange image I had in my dreams... It was a waking dream. I sometimes see images and colours so clearly that I don't feel happy unless they are on paper. I always felt there was more here or I could work on it in another way/colour.

I did this one with another in a colour fury. I had been day dreaming of mixing hot and cold colours. I was so pleased with the out-come.

These ones were sketches I worked on again and again. I did this when I was on holiday in the Faroe islands. There is a place I would love to run away to. I love it there so much. What I loved about the shell were the colours, and the size of it!!

I love to make pictures...
